Q:
What happens when four musically talented, but academically unmotivated
college students get tired of playing Grand Theft Auto over, and
over, and over?
A: Rob’s Welfare. Rob’s Welfare plays pop-oriented alternative
rock music. Lead singer Ari Zelig began putting
the band together in the spring of 2002, his second semester at
Emory University in Atlanta. He was joined by bassist Robert
Dyson and drummer Ben Korray for the
band’s first show at the Hard Rock Café in Memphis.
Guitarist Paul Forrest joined the band this
fall, and over the past semester Rob’s Welfare has attracted
a rapidly growing following at Emory and at surrounding colleges.
Now we’re seeking to expand our exposure beyond the Atlanta
college scene with backing from a major record label. Our three
song demo offers only a glimpse into the future of Rob’s
Welfare – although we have been together for a relatively
short time, we’ve developed very quickly and have a wealth
of material to draw on for future recordings and performances.
