Rob's
Welfare is...
Ari Zelig - Vocals, Rhythm Guitar
Paul Forrest - Lead Guitar, Backing Vocals
Ben Korray - Drums
Robert Dyson - Bass, Backing Vocals
Ari
Native
Memphian, Ari Zelig, began playing guitar right before high school.
His passion for music turned into an addiction, and as he began
playing in bands, he tested out his songwriting skills. As a freshman
in college, Ari missed playing in a band more than anything. Finally,
out of concern for Rob's Welfare, the band formed and the journey
began. His influences include Incubus, 311, Red Hot Chili Peppers,
3 Doors Down, and many others. Fharfram.
Paul
Once
Paul's dad taught him his first G chord in 7th grade, he was pretty
much hooked on the guitar. Paul grew up in Atlanta, and learned
guitar by listening to Stevie Ray Vaughan and Carlos Santana, along
with the alternative rock that filled the airwaves, as well as playing
in his high school jazz band. He was recruited to play in Rob's
Welfare in the fall of 2002, and has helped establish the band's
sound. His influences also include Radiohead, Ben Harper, Weezer,
Incubus, Hendrix and the Allman Bros.
Ben
Born
and raised in Miami, Ben was always torn between sports and music
as a kid. In high school he balanced his band and played varsity
baseball. His first drumset was a five piece tupperware kit that
he quickly destroyed. Once in college he found Ari through their
fraternity and Ari insisted he bring his drumset to school. The
rest is history. His influences are Rage Against the Machine, 311,
and Radiohead, just to name a few.
Rob
Born in England, raised in Marietta, GA, the Canary Islands, and
Miami, FL, Rob is a junior at Emory. He picked up bass in 7th grade
when his buddies wanted to start a band, and thanks to Dad, there
was an untouched Ibanez bass in the garage, which you can hear on
our Demo. His main influences are The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin,
Incubus, Radiohead, and Jack Daniels. Crazy vegan.
